♪♪ ♪ Emotional roller coaster ♪ ♪♪ Art Hearts Fashion has been in New York, L.A., and Miami, and we're celebrating our 10-year anniversary.
We've done the first show that featured Down syndrome models, made them a designer.
We did so much inclusivity, so much plus-size, and so many different shapes and sizes, cultures since the get-go and really started the trend, because the fashion industry, when we got into it, was all about size zeros and about really unhealthy expectations.
And for us at Art Hearts Fashion, being able to tell so many stories from so many designers, we were actually able to incorporate shapes and body sizes, colors, and beauty from all over the world that really needed more representation in Fashion Week in general.
We were actually able to incorporate upcycling, which is a super popular topic, as well, because it's all about conserving and saving the world.
-Looks cool, right?
-Yeah.
I'm putting together a collection that I started in 2019.
Our main message is that upcycling is not about money, it's about having a unique style.
Love for Upcycling is exactly that.
It's not a brand, it's a statement.
We need to move into reuse and repurpose.
We cannot consume any more.
So all the young designers need to learn upcycling not as a trend but as a lifestyle.
If young designers need to reuse fabrics, go to vintage stores, go to thrift stores, use deadstock fabrics, but do not buy new stuff.
There's no need.
There's enough already produced.
Being just a part of this show where every single garment is made of upcycled and recycled material, it holds such a -- such a strong message.
I love to be here to promote sustainability, be a changemaker in society, and understand that, with the growing tensions and the growing climate-change scare, we are able to reverse that, and we are able to be a leading force against that.
Future models need know about sustainability and believe that you can do everything you want.
You can change the clothes you have, and the world is yours.
I learned that I can wear pieces a little bit different than how I usually do.
Usually, I would never wear pants as a top, but here we are.
As an LGBTQ Latino, myself, minority, I've always been the underdog, and I think that here there's so many of us that together we are family, and that power is able to resonate throughout what we do here in Fashion Week.
And it's so amazing that we're able to use fashion to tell our story.
