The Agricultural Landscape: NYS Farmworker Overtime Threshold Changes

In 2020, NYS began overtime pay for farmworkers at 60 hours. Starting in January 2024, this 60-hour threshold will be decreasing to 56 hours, and by 2032 farmworkers will receive overtime pay after 40 hours worked. What prompted these changes, and what will the effect be on farmers and laborers?
