A series of stressors, including COVID-19, school shootings, and rising prices, has had a distinct impact on parents and guardians.
According to findings released by the CDC in 2021, about 70% of all caregivers reported symptoms of anxiety or depression.
Now, parents are seeking help to recover from the traumas of the past few years.
Anthony Austin, a father of a 12-year-old son, found support through a self-care group he formed with other dads at the start of the pandemic.
The group started by talking on Zoom every week and also went on hikes.
Now, if you're struggling, experts recommend seeking help from your primary care physician, a therapist, or public mental health agencies that offer walk-in appointments.
Support groups can also be a good way to get help without breaking the bank.
