Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell has appointed Adrian Diaz to permanently fill the role of Seattle police chief.
So, what do local leaders think of the nominee?
Quynh Pham, executive director of Friends of Little Saigon, said Diaz has been very accessible and attentive to the community's concerns.
She added that the police crackdowns downtown and in Little Saigon this year helped break up the pattern of criminal activity in the area, but many of the problems just relocated to other corners of the neighborhood.
Sean Goode, executive director of the youth diversion nonprofit Choose 180, said that while he believes the practice of policing is imperfect and causes harm, Diaz has demonstrated an investment in alternatives to policing and has been willing to engage in honest dialogue.
