Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipI have lifted best description would be neo classic rock. And it's it's basically taking all the all the bits and pieces of rock music from let's say that it's inception, the 50s and moving it all the way forward to now and picking up these bits and pieces of things that were really marvelous about it. I think a really good thing, like, guitars played directly into microphones. Obviously tape is no longer an option, unfortunately, because it's prohibitively high to actually produce with tape. But the idea is not using and not using things like that and music played by humans on instruments. And we like having the option of a piano and a piano on an organ or organ and Fender Rhodes and all these different things, like if you hear something like let it Be, there's three different keyboards on that, and that's kind of once again, a classic rock sound. We like to have a big produced sound without having to actually have any kind of backing or anything, any backing tracks or anything like that. We want to have enough people on stage to pull it off. Big sound, big vocal harmonies, the whole thing. It's basically it's a it's a warm blanket. It wrap, the sound wraps around you, and the more players you have, the more you're able to spread out that sound a little, a little more evenly. I've always been interested in music. I, I've been singing or performing since I was four. I started, Sony arms around us. I would, I would have me, performing for the celebrities in the rectory, that kind of thing. And then as I got older, it progressed, I would sing with my grandmother. I even literally. And, and my uncle John McCarthy. And so it's just been it runs in the family. So it's just something that we've done and and then of course, having Glen, we've been singing together since we were kids when I was eight in the, Saint John's talent show. That was the first time I ever saying this in front of 300 people. And instead of being nervous about it, I thought to myself, well, this seems like a natural thing to do. Which I mean, how many eight year olds are going to think, oh, it's natural to stand up here and sing in front of 300 people. I knew I wanted to do it, but when I was 12 and I heard the Beatles nuclear explosion, it was a it was one of those things where I understood, I looked at the Beatles as my example. So I'm like, well, naturally you have to be able to play a guitar and sing and write your own songs. Oh, and I guess you have to be able to play bass, and you have to be able to play keyboard to and a little bit of drums. That's what they're all doing. So I guess I've got to do that too. Don't forget about writing and writing. As far as a vocal artist, the truth I would say more along the lines of Celine Dion or more, more k.d. lang, Janis Joplin, people with females that have power and strength behind the voice and, as well as arrange the Eagles Hotel California album. I had a, I had an eight track of that and, or my brother had an eight track of that. He took it back with him and went to the Marines, and I was very mad about that, because if you listen to Hotel California, you're starting out. You've got like, there's a little bit of, like faux reggae Hotel California, there's a little bit of country, there's a little bit, there's an orchestral reprise to a song. There's just everything. Harmonies, rock guitar, country guitar, acoustic, electric, 12, six. Anything you can possibly think of is all happening on that album. So it went right here in the back of my head, and I was like that is a sound. And I think it prepped me. It prepared me for when the Beatles happened. The within, the Beatles showed up. It was like, oh yeah, of course you use orchestras, you do all of these things in music. A lot of the time. A lot of the time it's, I come across a couple of chords that I like. Right? And then, I start looking through, I start looking through my notebooks and things like that because I'm always writing words, always just words afterwards, afterwards. So I start flipping through until I can find something that, oh, this feels right. So yeah, there's a mass production of lyrics, and there's always some kind of little tune that's always being worked on. And so what I will do is I'll put those together. So if I find myself strumming and going, me of, you know, a, like scrambled eggs, right? But the same thing. If I find myself doing that, then I'm like, okay, I gotta have words. I can't just mumble. So I look for the words, put the music together and like, okay, is it going to modulate, is going to change keys, what's it going to do. You know, things like that. The original album is on Spotify right now. And you can also find it on Amazon and download it. Although we are, we've started, remastering some things. So you will see civilized natives pop up on, Apple Music and also YouTube music. And you can also use it for on Instagram and, and Facebook, if you want to make your own real type in Civilized Natives, you've got at least two to choose from that have been remastered. And I'm going to be continuing with that, running parallel to making a new album. So I'm trying.
