The longtime head of Georgetown's old friends Thoroughbred Retirement Farm says he is stepping down as president.

Michael Lohan opened Old Friends Farm in 2003 and moved from Georgetown to Midway, then back to Georgetown as it continued to grow.

The farm is now 240 acres and has close to 300 retired thoroughbreds.

Blowing says he's taken the farm as far as he can, and he says it's time for someone else to take over as president.

I get a lot of credit for doing all this, but it's really not the case.

I didn't really make the old friends or friends really made me, and all the time I was around movie people, I was never that starstruck, but I was really starstruck around that horses.

That was always in the back of my mind that these are great stars, and simply because they're retired doesn't mean they're lesser stars or that their celebrity is diminished.
