With the constant threat of massive spring storms, the city of Moore became the first US city to require stricter building codes designed to withstand extremely strong winds. The Moore City Council approved the codes at the recommendation of structural engineers at OU. Moore approves changes to building codes to make homes better able to survive a tornado.
