Hispanic Organ Transplant Program Wants Latinos to Donate

How one Chicago doctor is leading the effort to encourage Latinos to donate organs.

April is National Donate Life Month to raise awareness about organ donation. More than 106,000 people are on the national transplant waiting list. About 20% are Latino. When it comes to donating organs, Latinos made up 14.6% of all organ donors in 2020. Dr. Juan Caicedo says it's important to have culturally appropriate programs to increase and encourage organ donation among Latinos.
