And it was named after the Osage River that runs through it.
And the Osage River was named after the Native Americans that lived in this area.
Some of the first settlers to Osage County were the French, and they established, a trading post at French Village, which is the in the current Bonnets Mill area.
By the 1830s, the German immigrants had started to come and they came to Osage County because they liked the rolling hills, and the rivers.
It reminded them of their homeland.
By 1835, the first Catholic mass was celebrated in Westphalia, Missouri, and later Father Ferdinand Helias was the resident priest, and he helped establish other missions in the area Immaculate Conception and Loose Creek and the Sacred Heart Parish in Rich fountain.
In 1857, the Missouri Pacific Railroad began to cut through the Missouri countryside.
In turn, the development of the northern section of the county along the Missouri River began to grow.
The Unterrified Democrat is our newspaper here in Lynn, Missouri, and it was established in 1866.
Osage County has over a thousand farms with approximately 305,000 acres, in agriculture production and livestock.
our fence rows are pretty clean.
People generally keep things neat, and tidy.
We've got some darn good cooks in this county.
people know how to use what God has given them.
They they can they preserve they grow their, livestock and crops.
I think religion is a big part of this county.
I think, the churches being established.
You know, many, many years ago.
God and family is very important here.
And, the Bible talks about how you shouldn't, you know, waste things and, you know, squander what's been given to you.
And, and I think those, these people around here take that to heart
