We always got coffee and talked about music, and life, and art.
Some time after that, you know, we got that idea of, "Hey, why don't we just get together, and try this flamenco, and electro, and, you know, this fusion that we've been constantly talking about?
And we literally, in about a week, we wrote the first three songs we released, "Unwind," "Shangri La," and "Lilac," just for that purpose, just to go ahead and play a show.
Paco was born.
The rest is history.
(shoes tapping) (gentle guitar music) - We've always loved visual content with each song that we put out.
Vahagni's been working with flamenco dancers for a long time.
Our drummer also used to be a world class tap dancer.
And so, when he started playing for us, we thought it'd be cool to integrate his tap dancing into the show.
(gentle guitar music) (shoes tapping) Watching the human body move in a very syncopated way, to syncopated music, and our music is naturally syncopated, I think it's satisfying to the human eye.
So we thought it'd be cool to have this sort of dance-off element to our show as well.
(shoes tapping) (gentle guitar music) Thank you, Albuquerque!
(audience cheering) You guys are amazing.
We're Paco Versailles from Los Angeles.
Thank you for dancing!
You guys are making us feel very welcome, so we appreciate that.
And thanks to "Bands of Enchantment" for having us.

And I grew up with that, everywhere.
And so, I'm very, very influenced by, not just flamenco music, but by Paco de Lucia.
Versailles is where a lot of Ryan's influences come from, like Daft Punk and Air.
- Phoenix.
- Phoenix, yeah.
- All the great French bands.
- Yeah.
- Yeah.
- And so, it was a representatio of, not just me and Ryan, and what we listen to, and what we like, but also the music that came together.
We have Paco and- - And it sounded good.
- Yeah, and it sounded good, thank God.

- We're very open to whatever the music needs, whatever your imagination brings.
And there's no music police that's gonna come and say, "Hey, you did this wrong," or, you know what I mean?
Because we're kind of in our own lane, doing what we want.
(shoes tapping) (flamenco guitar music) It's cool to not be a flag bearer, as I call it.
You know, where you have to say, "This is jazz," or, "This is flamenco," or, "This is electronic music," or, "This is pop," or whatever.
It's, "This is just music."
And when you have that freedom, you can allow yourself to create anything.
- And hopefully presenting, you know, something that's familiar, musically, and accessible, but yet, you know, it's showcasing, in particular, his style of playing, which people usually just hear in, like, you know, in a flamenco club.
And now they're hearing it in, like, a full-on dance music venue, with a band backing him up.
(audience cheering) (gentle flamenco guitar music begins) I think we're moving too fast I think we're moving too fast But I want to fall right into you (fast-paced flamenco guitar music) I put you in my mind And hold you there all the time I put you mind And hold you there all the time I'm letting you take me over Letting myself unwind I'm letting you take me over Letting myself unwind (upbeat dancemenco music) I put you in my mind And hold you there all the time I put you in my mind, put you in my mind And hold you there all the time I'm letting you take me over Letting myself unwind I'm letting you take me over Letting myself unwind (mellow dance music) Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh I think we're moving too fast But I want to fall right into you I think we're moving too fast But I want to fall right into you I think we're moving too fast But I want to fall right into you I think we're moving too fast But I want to fall right into you I think we're moving too fast, I won't stop But I want to fall right into you I think we're moving too fast, I won't stop But I want to fall right into you (upbeat dancemenco music) I think we're moving too fast I think we're moving too fast But I want to fall right into you (fast-paced guitar music) (audience cheering) Thank you, Albuquerque.
