Hi, my name is Brenda Vargas I am in fifth grade.

This is Miss Louis.

She is our program coordinator.

Part of her job is to help us with Second Step.

Can you tell us what Second step is?

Using photo cards, role plays, and other materials, The Second Step program helps students recognize the signals that lead them to make inappropriate choices, and teaches them how to demonstrate the skills of empathy, impulse control, and anger management.

Where is Second Step taught?

the second step is taught in the classroom, and the students are encouraged to practice whenever and wherever the occasion arises.

Why is it important?

Second step is important because students can master skills that can enhance all of their relationships throughout their entire lives.

Hi.

My name is Carla, and I'm Malcolm.

We're going to tell you about our trip to Cal-Wood.

For the first time 4th & 5th grade students spent two days and one night at Cal-Wood.

We saw a mule deer, a fox, lots of animal tracks and learned how to tell how old a tree is by counting the rings in the trunk.

For some students, this was the first time they have been to the mountains.

We had a great time at Cal-Wood.
