At Issue: Poison on the West Plains
PFAS chemicals have left Spokane's West Plains residents without safe drinking water.I mean, in the face of everyone saying, oh, because I'm still seeing the people on Division Street here, we're not doing anything and say that there's so much that we are doing and seeing and seeing people's lives transformed when people are coming in, they're engaging in services, we're assessing their needs.
We're helping them triage into detox or inpatient if they need that.
And then we're also looking at beds that would best fit them.
And then when they get there they can they can stabilize there.
They can have the supports and wraparound services that they need there.
seeing the number of people working right now for all the different providers who once themselves were homeless in addiction and now are clean and sober and doing this work, and they're passionate about the work and they're seeing people transformed and that's that's huge.
And and that's what excites me as well to say it's doable.
my thing with people who are kind of naysayers about it would be like, learn about, you know, what's happening here and what's needed and get involved.
