Most students in Paterson return to school in person

Cleanup after Tropical Storm Ida means not all the city’s schools can reopen immediately

Most of Paterson’s children returned to in-person learning Monday. “It’s a great day. We just talked to all the students and they’re happy to be back in school, and they’re energized, motivated, ready to be here,” said Eileen Shafer, superintendent of Paterson Public Schools. But some cleanup remains to be done after Tropical Storm Ida before all the city’s schools can reopen.
