The area was originally home to the Iroquois Indians, and during the Revolutionary war the county bore witness to a brutal military campaign. Today, gliders soar silently over Chemung's majestic valleys, and visitors can investigate the county’s deep connections to the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, or explore the areas rich aviation history at one of it’s many museums.
