(bright folk music) - PBS Utah has a new politics and election reporter just in time for election season, and here with more details about story she's working on is reporter Cailley Chella.
Hi, Cailley.
- Hi, Mary.
- Welcome and welcome to PBS Utah.
- Thank you.
It's great to be here.
- So briefly give us a little of your background as a reporter.
- So, I'm from Mesa, Arizona, which is right outside of Phoenix.
I went to Cronkite, the journalism school at ASU.
Afterwards, I went to LA where I worked for Vice News, my favorite experience there.
I also did local news in Fargo, North Dakota.
I've kind of been all over the place.
- You bet and now you're in Utah to help us stay up to date on the political situation.
So what stories are you working on now?
- Well, it's my understanding that PBS Utah does or historically has done a lot more documentary stuff that takes longer to produce.
So I got brought in.
We're doing a lot of content on Instagram.
You can find us at PBS Utah or at Cailley Chella, and we're doing more day-to-day type stories, things that are happening in the community, and also getting you ready for the election.
So if you need to know who's running or what they stand for, that'll also be on PBS Utah's Instagram.
- And I know we're also doing some local debates.
So we've got three congressional districts, we've got the Senate race in Utah, and we also have governor.
- Right, there's a lot of stuff happening.
Those debates will also be on PBS Utah broadcast June 10th through 12th.
So if you wanna watch those, make sure you check your listings to see when they'll be airing.
- Right, and they're also being live-streamed, - Live-streamed, yeah.
- which is great, and then you're doing little pieces on each candidate that will be on Instagram?
- Yes, so we're doing a video voter guide just for the US Senate.
We've also got a online voter guide in working with NPR Utah, but PBS Utah has a video voter guide where we're interviewing each senate candidate, asking them the same questions, and you can find out more about them through using their own voices.
Those will be up next, early next month before the ballots go out.
- All right, Well, great.
Well, thank you again for being here and thanks for what you're doing, - Absolutely, thank you.
- And if you would like to know more about PBS Utah's election reporting, go to Instagram.
It's right there.
It's just on Instagram.
(clears throat) so you can check out all sorts of things.
I'm Mary Dickson.
Thanks for watching Contact.
