(bright music) - PBS Utah and Salt Lake Film Society are holding a special advance screening of the newest masterpiece and mystery, "The Marlow Murder Club."

Director of Programming and Engagement, Laura Durham, is here to tell us all about it.

Laura, hi.

- Hi.

(laughing) - Okay, don't we love the murder mysteries on PBS?

- I love murder mysteries, especially like the ones they call the cozy mysteries that aren't too, you know, hard hitting.

- [Mary] Yes.

- They're just in a nice English village (laughing) and you get to follow these detectives along the way.

- Yeah, okay, and this time, tell me about the detectives we get to follow, the women.

- Okay, so the thing to know about "Masterpiece Mysteries," at least the cozy ones, are that there's usually amateur detectives, meaning they're not really a detective, but they do help the real detective.

(laughing) So in this case, you have the star, and she's a retired archeologist, and she witnesses a murder and she doesn't know who who did it, but she recruits the friend, there's, I think, a wife of a vicar.

There's always a vicar, right?

- [Mary] Oh, always a vicar.

- And another friend.

And then there is a detective that eventually lets them consult on the case.

(laughing) So, but this is a really fun one.

It's a four-part series.

It comes from the creator of "Death in Paradise," which is a popular-- - Oh yeah.

- popular mystery.

- People like that.

People always love the mysteries.

- Yeah.

- Don't they?

They're the best because, okay you know why I love 'em?

- [Laura] Why?

- Okay, because you got this beautiful scenic place that's usually a small town by the water.

- [Laura] Yep.

- Sometimes you get great costumes, and you get amazing actors.

- Yeah.

- Yeah.

- Yeah.

- So who's in this one?

- And the writing is really fun.

- Oh, the writing.

It's so good.

- Yeah, you'll recognize the lead from "Downton Abbey."

She played the wealthy widow, Lady Rosamond, I think Robert Crawley's sister.

And so she's gonna be great, and it'll be really fun.
