Producer Mondays is a -- is a space where we can actually get together and have conversation, share ideas, write new music.
[ Vocalizing ] Man: One more time.
♪ I say hey-y-y-y ♪ You say... [ Audience vocalizing ] Woman: They always bring their friends back.
They're like, "Oh, yeah, you know, you got to come in.
I just found out this party."
Angry: Yes, it is a party.
At the end of the day, it's a party, but we get creative with it.
I think that's the beauty about creating Producer Mondays is that it really does build a community, and -- and it brings artists together in a way that we don't get to do most of the time.
[ Vocalizing ] [ Singing indistinctly ] ♪♪ I'm blessed to see the talent that Ray brings out, plus himself.
Monday night, I come here to clean.
It's like a sonic cleanse.
Angry: Ooh!
Come here empty-handed, open mind, open heart.
Leave your bags at the door.
[ Singing indistinctly ] ♪♪ You know, I want to champion creatives, you know, and creative space for -- for creatives to -- to feel like superheroes.
The world would not exist, and we wouldn't enjoy the things we do if it weren't for people that are extremely creative, you know?
And it's magical to create.
I love working with the Roots.
And working with Questlove, he's so busy that when we're working on a record, he'll set a BPM, and then we just record.
And so I love working with him, because I don't have a chance to second-guess myself.
[ Rapping ] ♪ Way lower, I'm taking things over, what ♪ ♪ Filling in when the clicks getting closer ♪ [ Rapping indistinctly ] ♪♪ [ Piano music playing ] ♪♪ I really see music as -- as one organism.
You know, I'm just sitting here at this piano, and I can just create an idea that has never been heard before.
There's something magical about that.
What we fail to do is to really understand history.
Even in classical music, you had your figured bass, which is likened unto your lead sheet in jazz.
Students would learn how to improvise.
And that was at the inception of classical music, the art of improvisation.

♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ I really see people appreciating music more when you have new and exciting elements that are being presented to them in a new way.
That's what's fun about what I do, that it doesn't feel like work, you know?
So I love being able to, like, work on different things.
And I view music as sort of solving a puzzle.
You know, if I have a different project, it's sort of like playing chess.
It's like you're trying to figure out, "Oh, how do I get out of the maze?"
So I just have fun.
