City inspection found dangerous conditions

Almost 50 families in Plainfield have been displaced after city officials condemned an apartment building on West 7th Street. The city’s sudden action came after an inspection Tuesday found dangerous conditions in the building, including gas leaks, sewage leaks, mold and ceilings that were caving in. Residents were given 24 hours’ notice of the building’s condemnation.
