Some City Council members are pushing to use real estate taxes to fund homeless programs.
A plan to boost funding for homelessness by $160 million got the cold shoulder from city council yesterday. Not enough alderpeople showed up to even be able to consider the proposal. Supporters say it'll tax the super wealthy to help out the poor. Opponents say it will put a strain on small and medium sized developers and real estate investors.
