Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship(gentle music) - Well I ran this company for 32 years it's all about teamwork.
Without the team, I'm nobody.
I'm not afraid to say, "Yeah, I'm wrong."
(upbeat music) Hi, I'm Tam Pham, I'm the CEO of Talent Tool & Die and PlexG.
I came to Cleveland in 1975 as a Vietnamese refugee.
When I got out of college, my dream was to start up a company that help unite my family together.
In 1988, we started Talent Tool & Die, I was able to bring all my brothers and my family member into the company.
We do a lot of stamping, assembly, we do a lot of fabrication for golf cart business.
That how brought us to build our capacity and capability of what we do for PlexG right now.
We feel this pandemic hit the society, we want to come up with a product that we can protect people.
And we don't want to do a product just to have a product.
So we came up with the idea of the PlexG, and we do the sneeze guard like what you see up here.
As you see, this is our product line, it's adjustable, as you can see, we can adjust it lower and we adjust it higher, that's what we have.
And it pulls around, that if you stand there, I can push it right to you and I start talking to you.
And then I think we, as the time goes on we get better at it, we understand what people need.
Sometimes they just call me on the phone and say, "I need to seal such and such," and we can say, "I got it."
And then we ask them, "Send us a picture," and from the picture we will determine what they need, and then they send us the dimensions.
Within three days to a week, we have the product for them.
We do this shield right here for like schools that can clamp onto a desk for students.
Like this shield you see right here is all laser cut we do have our own laser cut machine here.
We can cut any configuration that people require we can add in a window for paperwork to go back and forth and we also do with the post, we do have a lot of capability for cutting tube and welding them together and that's how we come up with our product.
When we came up with the idea in March, within two days later we had the product.
And then people try it out and people like it, and that's how the word gets out.
This right here we do for the Board of Elections in Lorain County.
How they know us, is that we set up the whole courtroom for Lorain County, and they see the quality of work that we put in.
They said, "I want you to do our system."
So they ordered from us to cover themselves for Election Day.
We feel very proud of what we have done, and we're not done yet.
We still continue to move on with different products people want.
So the more we go out there, the more we learn, and from there, we go to the next level.
And that's what we want to do.
