According to Sayreville police chief, the search for new officers has been extremely tough
Some officials attribute low recruitment to not having enough qualified candidates who are applying. But Jiles Ship, of the New Jersey Training Commission and head of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement, says he doesn’t believe that’s the case. He instead blames the lack of recruitment on subjective criteria that he says keeps people of color from being hired.
