- I guess the question then becomes why not?

If it's a mission to get as many people vaccinated as possible, this would be one way to get us well on the way.

- Yeah, so I asked Baker that yesterday, he's actually said it a few times now.

So yesterday he was laying out the new plans to close mass vaccination sites, focus harder on, getting people who are harder to convince to get the vaccine to get it.

So if the whole plan is to get more people vaccinated, why not do this, right?

So Baker told me he's not gonna "Play that game" as he put it, when it comes to potentially firing people for not being willing to take the vaccine.

And he knows exactly what Baker said.

- [Audio Clip] The idea that we would take those folks and basically make them choose between their rent and their food on the table and all the rest when they have in some cases, very legitimate reasons to be nervous about a government-run program that's going to put a shot in their arm.

There's a lot of layers there.

- Yeah, exactly.

You know, so Baker's, folk voicing some sympathy for people who won't get vaccines, you know, at least not right away.

And you know, there are worries based on historic cases where people of color were were subjected to, faulty or misleading treatments by the government.

That's what he's referencing there.

It's also one of the times where he's kind of sounding more Republican than usual, at at least a lot more Republican than we usually hear on Beacon Hill.
