Providing Support for PBS.org
Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipfor someone maybe who is new to this conversation, who was just starting to think about it in terms of maybe they are caring for their parents, or maybe a child or a spouse, and they're hoping that they can, allow that person to live in the home as long as they want to.
I mean, what do they need to start doing right now to have to be prepared for that next step?
You know, I think if you're a caregiver and you're thinking about, you know, your parents or your aunt's, your uncle's, you know, even your grandparents, thinking about what that looks like for them in terms of aging in place, I think you really need to sit down and have a family conversation about what matters most to that person, right?
As they get older, what is it that they want?
And then, you know, kind of go from there.
There's a lot of really great resources that you can put in place.
You know, I'll give a shout out to our area agencies on aging, across Kentucky.
I think that they have a lot of services that most caregivers in Kentucky are not as aware of.
So calling the Aging and Disability Resource Center having, an assessment done so we can think about what are those in-home services that that person might qualify for as they get older, to really help them, sort of put that plan in place, especially if they, you know, need some of those services now.
Right?
You didn't have that conversation early on, so you didn't have a plan.
Let's, let's, you know, pause for a moment and start having that conversation.
This conversation is part of KT's ongoing aging initiative that examines the challenges and rewards of growing older.
Our website has some great resources available to help you navigate this and other aging related issues.
So we encourage you to check us out at KETV.
