And other news President Donald Trump is getting high praise from his base in Kentucky last Friday, Republican voters gathered for food and fund raising in Madison County where Trump won 64% of the vote.
Our June LaFleur talked to some of Kentucky's top Republicans at the event and has this report.
>> At Madison County's Fairgrounds last Friday, Republican voters show out along with to Kentucky congressman who are celebrating the passage of the big, beautiful bill of the toughest.
>> Border security legislation, history with surges, resources, the Border Patrol agents, ICE agents.
The big beautiful bill also lowered taxes.
It addressed energy policy.
It trying to do things that get a handle on on the amount of student loan debt.
>> With the bill's Medicaid cuts set to roll out in 2027.
Congressman James Comer says now is the time to get more people working hard going.
Kentucky.
>> Should be to to to see men who are able-bodied, who Medicaid in help them.
A good paying job that that provides health care.
However, most adult Kentucky ends on Medicaid already work.
>> Comer says that's another problem.
There are big companies in Kentucky.
>> Only hire people part time so they don't have to pay.
For health care and they help them get on Medicaid.
And that's not the taxpayer subsidized and some big profitable coping.
Some big household name companies for the health care for their joint.
I don't think that's fair.
And I think that's something that we're going to have to address Kentucky over the next 3 years.
>> At the annual GOP ladies picnic candidates vie for Senator Mitch McConnell seat.
These candidates say their loyalty to President Trump and his policy goals.
Are there winning campaign strategy?
>> My track record speaks for itself in 2023.
I was the only statewide officeholder elected office holder who was willing to endorse President Trump.
Even though there was a raid on Mar-A-Lago and I spoke on his behalf of the 2020 RNC convention.
I've supported his agenda because those are core convictions for me even in my day job right now.
I'm fighting I I'm not just talking about supporting President Trump.
I'm actually doing it.
I'm helping him deliver on this America first agenda passing.
>> And helping with the votes in passing the one big beautiful bill working with his Cabinet.
>> One Kentucky Republican.
That's not following Trump.
Congressman Thomas Massie.
The president has called for someone to primary messy comer would like that to to make up.
>> I wouldn't wish a primary on on anyone.
I hope that I hope it all works out.
I would never underestimate, Thomas.
I think that he's got to a big battle it out there or not.
I hope that he's able to cause a wreck it out some of these differences with President Trump.
>> Comer says Massey suffers a primary defeat.
It could hurt Republicans already slim majority in the House for Kentucky edition.
