- [Biker] It was political theater.
- [Biker] We were almost at the coast.
- [Biker] Everybody was ready to get to Cape Hatteras.
- When the cops came, it got real.
- Blowing the smoke out of the room.
- You're all going to jail tonight.
- I was totally lost.
- Do you remember us drafting off of semis?
- That's just insane.
- If we weren't so close to the end of this trip, I'd send every one of you home.
- [Biker] This adventure was coming to an end.
- [Biker] All of our parents were there.
- [Biker] It was a wonderful sense of accomplishment.
- [Biker] And it was something that we have all reflected on.
- You've been with me for 3,600 miles and you're going to bow out on the last 60 miles, are you kidding me?
- I didn't care what he thought, 'cause he didn't care about me.
- The news happened to be on and I saw it.
I lost it.
- I remember just like, it took the breath away from me.
- Probably in shock.
Oh my gosh.
- Most of us would never see Chuck again.
- You're thinking, "Well, this is gonna happen again next year."
Until it didn't.
- Mike said he had, if he was lucky, till 21.
That's a hard thing to know.
- [Friend] I didn't really say goodbye.
- [Biker] Gonna miss being together.
You know, that bond.
- [Biker] I knew I had built some friendships, you know?
- When I look at that journal now, it reminds me of just the passage of time and the growing up of life itself.
- I'm saddened that I haven't ridden in a long time.
I wanna be able to do it and I can't.
- Every kid in their teenage years should get out of the house and do something big.
- Your body will do things.
The question is, can you get your mind to do them?
- I do feel like I could get on that bike and do that trip right now.
- Absolutely.
There's 15 bicycles in my basement.
- No matter how tired you were, no matter how hungry you were, no matter how much you missed home, this and that, whatever it was, every morning you just got on your bike and rode.
You just get on your bike and ride.
