NJ prison reform advocates demand fair treatment

Under a reform law passed last year known as the Dignity Act, the Office of Corrections Ombudsperson was given the power to oversee prisons and investigate allegations of abuse and misconduct. The law went into effect on August 1, 2020 but more than a year later, the ombudsperson seat remains empty, and advocates say it has led to a severe lack of oversight.
