Two Mercer County sisters saw this in their community and they sprung into action, helping some students step out in style for a night to remember Forever White.
I love that it's not indoors.
Two Sisters Prom Shop really came together about two years ago.
We knew there was a need.
I work full time at the high school in Mercer County, and we realized there was a need that a lot of the girls, a lot of the guys could not go to prom for the simple fact they could not afford prom attire of any kind.
I came home, talked to my sister about it, and we knew we had to do something.
So from there we thought, why not do a Facebook post, just throw it out there?
If anybody has any prom dresses, any suits, we would love to take them.
You know, there is a need.
And it completely blew up.
We never expected it to be as big as it is now.
So last year, we gave away 167 dresses and nine suits, and this year aid will be more.
We are one of the only organizations that does not charge one dime.
We do not do an application process.
We do not rent.
They go and they, you know, pick out their tux.
They try them on their dresses, shoes, and they're out the door.
We even have all of the jewelry.
My sister and I are making the boot nears the wrist.
Corsages.
We do have giveaways.
Some of our local salons will give away free hair.
We'll do a drawing.
We take everybody's name and do a drawing.
Some people will donate gift cards so that they can have a meal to go out to eat.
Anything that is prom related, we usually get a donation and if not, my sister and I will purchase it ourselves.
That's sweet of that.
Yeah, that's pretty.
We're just two sisters.
That's it.
Nothing special at all.
We're just ordinary people.
Our grandparents had always instilled in us.
You always pay it forward.
If there's somebody in need, you help those people in need.
And the seed got stuck in our heart, and we just went with it.
And I hope that from this, people will be inspired to do something.
You know, not dresses or suits or whatever.
Whatever they're passionate about, you know, that just pay it forward.
You can take it.
Our goal is to make everybody have one magical night that they'll remember forever.
You know, And and certainly those two sisters are doing just that.
