Newark’s Ironbound already has three power plants
Gov. Phil Murphy was in Elizabeth Thursday night for the swearing-in of the Union County Commissioners. But protestors outside the ceremony gathered to urge Murphy to stop the planned construction of a new natural-gas power plant in Newark’s Ironbound. The proposed plant is meant to keep the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission’s operations running during future power outages.
