Here to highlight a new phase for Recycle Utah is Chelsea Hafer.
Welcome, Chelsea.
- Hi.
- So tell me about this new phase for Recycle Utah.
- Yeah, we're really excited.
It's been a long time coming.
We've been serving the Summit County community for coming up on our 36th year now, and we are on 0.4 acres right now and we've been in this old bus barn for a really long time.
We get tons of traffic, we get 400 cars a day coming to bring their recycling, so we've known that we need a new lot for a long time.
And in the last year, everything's really fallen together with the city and the county, and we're gonna be moving to 4.18-acre lot in Summit County next year in March, so we're really excited.
- That's exciting.
What are you hoping to see with this growth?
- We've been collecting a lot of information from the community on what they are looking for from us, and we, right now, are waiting for the final plans to come back from our architect, but we're hoping to have expanded recycling services, a classroom space, a greenhouse, a repair clinic, tool library, cafe.
So we're hoping that this can serve more as a sustainability hub for the community, where people can come, they can recycle, they can learn.
So yeah, we're really excited.
- I also hear that you guys were asking for feedback from the community as well on this new facility.
- Yeah, so a lot of what's going into our plan right now is actually based on the feedback that we've gotten from the community.
We had 600 people fill out a survey, so we have a pretty good idea of what the community is looking for from this space.
- How good does that feel that people were so excited about this that they wanted their voices heard?
- Yeah, we're really excited.
I mean, I think we get really great feedback every single day at our center.
People really love what we do, and we're there to answer questions and be a resource for our community, but yeah, it was great to see how excited people are for this new space.
- I love that.
Well, thank you so much for stopping by and sharing information about the new phase of the center.
