(upbeat music) - Red Butte Garden is holding its annual spring plant sale, featuring an impressive selection of herbs, annuals, perennials, and a lot more.
Associate horticulture director, Crystal Kim, is here to tell us more.
Hi, Crystal, so this is coming up just in time for Mother's Day.
- That's right, the plant sale is on the Friday and Saturday of Mother's Day weekend.
- Okay.
And then I know Friday is for members, so you have to register.
- That's correct, yeah.
Members need to pre-register for a time slot for shopping.
Saturday is open to the public free of admission for anyone coming to the sale.
- Ah, it's great, and it's right in the gardens, which is really nice.
- Yeah, we hope people might take a minute before or after the sale to walk around the garden and get some ideas of what they might want in their yards.
- Oh, that's a good idea.
Good tip, good tip.
Okay, and tell us what you have.
You've got so much.
- We have so much.
We've got pretty much everything anyone could want for their garden.
Like you said, we have herbs, we have ornamental grasses, roses, perennials for sun and shade.
We have a large selection of heirloom vegetables, which is always really exciting.
And we have the biggest selection of water-wise and native plants in one location and we know people really get excited about those types of plants.
- Oh yeah, I was just looking at my garden beds thinking I need more water-wise plants.
And so will you have people who can help us?
- We do.
We have a lot of staff on hand, the horticulture staff, and a lot of volunteers who know about plants can answer questions, can help people find what they're looking for, if they have ideas of what they need in their yards, we can help 'em out.
- Ah, that's great.
And I know you also have provided some tips for shoppers who come that day, those days.
- Yeah, the tips we like to share are, if you have a wagon, bring that with you.
We do have some shopping carts, but it's a limited number.
They go fast at the beginning of the sale.
We encourage people to shop twice, so to head over to the plants that they know they want, they need to have in their gardens.
Get those and then take some time to walk around and just see what else is there and find some other treasures.
- Well great; I'm looking forward to going myself, so thanks for being here.
- All right.
- And if you'd like to know more about Red Butte Garden's big plant sale coming up.
It's also a fundraiser for them, I should say, May 10th for members, you should register, May 11th open to the public.
It's all free.
