(bright music) - Red Butte Garden's Adult Education Programs feature wellness and creative classes like forest bathing, yoga, and botanical painting.

Joining us to share more is Alex Lithgow.

Hi, Alex.

- Hi, thanks for having me here today.

- Oh, thanks so much for being here.

You know, we love Red Butte Garden here.

It's such a beautiful place.

And winter is also a beautiful place for the garden.

- It is, yeah.

We offer adult classes and workshops year round, and winter offers an especially important time to come up and experience some of the restorative and reflective benefits that this slow time of year offers.

- So tell us of what you have coming up in January.

- So in January, we've got a wide range of classes.

We've got a terrarium workshop, a fruit tree pruning workshop, of course our yoga and sound bath, which happens year round, as well as forest bathing, some botanical painting, and a wide range of other offerings in gardening, nature, arts, creativity, wellness, and culinary arts.

- Wow!

So it sounds like there's activities for people to be outside and inside?

- Yeah, absolutely.

This time of year offers a great time to learn something new and we can do that both inside as you prepare for learning new knowledge ahead of spring gardening or with our forest bathing class, you can really engage all five of your senses and explore nature in a really accessible way this time of season.

- Yeah.

You call them Wintering Well?

- Yes.

Yeah.

We've got a Wintering Well workshop with one of our instructors that will be offered bimonthly through the early stages of the year, and I think it's a great way to start off the new year.

- I love that idea because winter really is a time to kind of slow down.

- Yes.

- And I love that you're doing this yoga, and forest bathing I think is new to a lot of people.

- Yes.

Yeah, absolutely.

It's a really cool Japanese practice that one of our instructors is a certified guide and it's a really special opportunity if you get a chance.

- That's wonderful.
