State Representative Ruth Ann Palombo became the latest lawmaker to announce she is not seeking reelection.
The Democrat has represented Lexington for more than three decades.
For two of those decades, she served as chair of the House Economic Development Committee, where she says she was able to promote the region's signature industries.
In a statement, Palumbo said, quote, After much prayer and consideration, I have decided not to seek an 18th term.
Passing legislation to help women, children, families, the elderly, consumers and small business has made me proud.
This time next year, State Representative Palumbo will have served the 76th District for 34 years.
Palumbo is the fourth Democratic lawmaker to announce they will not be seeking reelection.
Five Republicans have done the same.
The filing deadline for candidates running in next year's elections is January 5th.
