Only in summer 2020 had the transit agency more cancellations

It's been called a "summer of hell" for New Jersey's rail commuters, and the numbers back it up. Analysis by the New Jersey Monitor found that New Jersey Transit reported 1,820 cancellations between June 1 and Aug. 31. That's up from 1,165 cancellations in 2023, and is the second-most for that three-month period during Gov. Phil Murphy's time in office.
