Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipRescue Ranch is a group of dedicated people that are doing it for the dogs.
Our purpose is to make sure no adoptable dog in this county ever has to go to landfill.
Three retirees got together in 1993 and saw there was a county wide problem with unwanted dogs.
Then a group of people about eight years later rescued them.
We built this facility starting in 2000 and we completed it in 2008 and we've been growing ever since.
We have the adoption facility here that's 18 acres.
We have another facility that feeds us that's 150 Well, the Rescue Ranch is a vital resource to our community and not just Siskiyou County, but on up into Southern Oregon, I like to say the state of Jefferson.
We provide food services, spay/neuter services, training services to the community at large.
Then of course, for Siskiyou County, we're basically their only outlet for dogs.
So last year we had over 600 intakes in 2025.
We have about 700 adoptions a year.
We can house around 300 dogs, so we're servicing at least 1,000 dogs every year.
We provide a low cost spay/neuter program and provide transport to a vet in Klamath Falls.
The community can help us by first coming to us for adoption if they're looking to put a new dog in their home.
The next thing that they can do is fostering when we get so overloaded.
It can only help with space, but it also gives us a picture into who they are in a home.
We do school programs with kids, educate about the importance of spay/neuter, educate about proper dog care.
When people come in to adopt, we try to counsel them and not only help them with type of dog they're drawn to, we try to counsel them so they get the personality they want as well.
We try to do home checks to make sure that they're ready for the dog, make the choices correct for the family.
Once we commit to a dog, we're there for its entire life.
