(upbeat music) (upbeat music) - [Mary Dickson] Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company's new production "To See Beyond Our Time" was created in response to the urgent call to save the Great Salt Lake.
And here to tell us more is co-creator Alexandra Harbold.
Alexandra, so great to have you here.
- [Alexandra Harbold] Thank you so much.
- [Mary Dickson] So excited to see this piece.
So talk about your collaboration with Daniel Charon who is the artistic director.
This is a big collaborative piece.
- [Alexandra Harbold] It is.
We actually started work on it last year.
Thinking more about air quality, and what it was like to live in Salt Lake City.
And then with the New York Times article coming out about the Great Salt Lake and the ticking clock that we have, it galvanized us to think about it in a different way.
We turned our attention more to the resources that the Great Salt Lake Collaborative have offered.
It's an intensely collaborative piece.
The dancers, Daniel, me, we've also got an incredible creative team.
Melissa Younker, who is a former dancer with the company is actually doing the costume design.
Kat Nix, who's with Ritual and Bloom.
She's creating scenic elements that mimic some of the flora.
- [Mary Dickson] Yeah.
- [Alexandra Harbold] of the Great Salt Lake.
We've also got Jessica Greenberg who's our lighting designer.
From the beginning, it's been about how do we pay attention and how do we work together to make a difference?
And part of it has just been about listening to each other and to the incredible generosity of the people that we've had a chance to have conversations with.
- [Mary Dickson] It's so great.
I got to see a little segment at their fundraiser and it's going to be beautiful.
- [Alexandra Harbold] Thank you.
- [Mary Dickson] A real, a real stunner.
Yeah.
I'm excited for this one.
So thank you so much for being here - [Alexandra Harbold] Thank you for the time.
- [Mary Dickson] Thank you for doing you it.
- [Mary Dickson] Yeah.
- [Alexandra Harbold] Oh, we're so excited.
- [Alexandra Harbold] Please come.
- [Mary Dickson] I will.
