You know that they come and they feel rooted in who they are.
They feel confident.
They feel like they have a plan.
They feel seen.
We're just rooted in the community.
I'm really grateful to be that way.
Hello, Danielle.
So where are we today?
We are at Rooted Hair Studio.
What is Rooted Hair Studio, what services do you offer?
Tell me a little bit about Rooted Hair Studio.
So we are a multicultural salon here in the city of Pittsburgh, located in Crafton.
Rooted Hair Studio is for everyone.
Truly.
Our heart and vision here is that we serve people from the second you walk in the door from you being greeted to sitting down to us, explaining to us, you know, in consultation, what do you want with your hair?
What are your hair goals?
And that's kind of creating a regimen and a system for your hair and being able to provide that a part of the experience.
And now we're able to say, now take this and do this at home and we'll see you.
And four, six, eight, twelve weeks.
you know, we have an intersection of people, races, cultures we do from black to white to Indian to Latino community.
And so to be able to have a proper understanding of texture of hair is like fabric.
And so how you deal with cotton will be different from how you deal with silk to wool to polyester.
And so the same thing, I think when it comes to hair, the amount of education that we do here at the salon to be able to provide an excellent guest experience, I want to make sure that my styles are built up because we're a multicultural salon.
Something that's really important to me is a reflection of from our guests who who is doing their hair and our stylists are multicultural as well, because I think it's about offering our best to our guests.
Truly, I want to get a tour of the space I would like to see.
So now can you show us around?
Sure.
So this is our stylist Dom here.
He has been with me from the beginning.
Dom is actually doing a color correction here and so I'm really excited for the purples that she is about to get.
Purple.
Yeah.
Okay.
Shes getting a thing, shes getting a thing.
This is our other stylist, Jerlline.
She is working on one of our guests here.
We are going to maybe do, like, a wash and go or, coil set on her hair.
So really excited.
She's just kind of detangling, talking through, what they did last, how she liked her haircut from the last time.
What are the things that she feels like she needs?
And kind of getting her set up for success.
This is my guest.
over here, Angelica.
That I'm really excited about.
We've been rocking for a few years now, and her hair is Chef kiss?
Oh, yes.
She, she has an amazing wash and go.
And honestly, her hair has grown so much, but it's just the consistency part.
I feel like she has a really good at home regimen, so when she comes in, it's more so the check in and she's usually doing well I'm like, okay, well, like, let's trim you and get it going.
This is our other stylist, Kristen.
She is doing one of our guests here.
She's been rocking with us for some time as well.
Shes doing the miracle knots.
This is a style that we've just started to do.
It's like a little trial.
And we love it so much that Jerlline and I are going to be getting the same style.
And if you guys want to get in on it as well.
So, but essentially she just braided her natural hair and then she just added like curly pieces to it, and now she's just doing some fun styling options.
Last year we started going to a homeless shelter.
And we are we go to light a life and we're able to provide hair services for the homeless.
We do a lot of adoptive families, you know, adoptive kids and biracial children.
So I'd love to do like a forum or like a class setting in something like that.
I believe, again, serving can happen in the building, but also needs to happen outside of the barriers that we have that that comes from race, cultural.
We are all more alike than what we think.
I am 100% agree, just reminding people that we are more than race.
