The future of Colstrip and its coal-fired power plants is becoming a top issue this legislative session. Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle are behind bills to protect coal-industry workers should they lose their jobs and the companies that own the generating station warn a partial shut down of the plants may occur sooner than 2022.
