WENT TO A PUBLIC GRADE SCHOOL AND FROM THERE WENT TO A CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL.
NOTRE DAME ACADEMY IN THE TOLEDO AREA, THEN ATTENDED THE UNIVERSITY OF TOLEDO.
KRISTI: NOW RITA YOU HAVE STARTED YOUR OWN FIRM WHAT WAS THE IMPOTACE FOR YOU AND YOUR PARTNERS TO START YOUR OWN FIRM?
RITA: WELLIT IS INTERESTING.
WE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN WITH LARGER COMPANIES THAT ARE MOSTLY PUBLICLY TRADED COMPANIES AND WE WERE AT A POINT WHERE THE LAST COMPANY WE WERE WITH WAS DECIDING TO SELL US TO SOMEBODY ELSEAND WE WERE GETTING A LOT OF PHONE CALLS FROM COMPETITORS ASKING US TO COME OVER AND BRING OUR BOOK OF BUSINESS TO THEM AND THEY WOULD PAY US A HANDSOME DOLLAR TO DO THAT.
AND THE COMPANY BUYING US WAS GOING TO DO THE SAME BUT THE MAN WHO ACTUALLY FOUNDED THE COMPANY, THE MAIN PARTNER TOM MCCDONALD CAME TO ME IN ABOUT 2010 AND SAID YOU KNOW WHY DONT WE JUST START THIS FIRM AND DO WHAT WE LIKE TO DO.
PUT CLIENTS FIRST WE WONT PAY ANY BODY TO COME TO US.
WE ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE ANY MONEY FROM ANYBODY BECAUSE WE KNOW THATS NOT IN THE BEST INTEREST OF OUR CLIENTS.
IT IS REALLY IN THE BEST INTERESTS OF OURSELVES.

ANDSO I HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY, THINGS LIKE THE ARTS COMMISSION THE TOLEDO MUSEUM OF ART AND ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS LOURDS UNIVERSITY I HAVE SERVED ON YOU KNOW THE NOTRE DAME ACADEMY CAPITAL CAMPAIGN COMITTEE SISTERS OF NOTRE DAME CAPITAL CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE AND A NUMBER OF OTHER ORGANIZATIONS IN THE HEALTH CARE SPACE SUCH AS PROMEDICA ON THEIR FOUNDATION BOARD.
SO JUST A LITTLE VARIED, THIS AND THAT BUT ALSO VERY DISCIPLINED IN THE WAY I SPEND MY TIME AND MY RESOURCES AND THEN TAKING IT A STEP FURTHER I DECIDED THAT GOING BACK TO MY ROOTS WAS IMPORTANT TO ME TO HELP THOSE THAT REALLY SIGNIFICANTLY SO I JOINED MY SISTR AND SOME MISSION WORK GOING INTO REFUGE CAMPS AND GIVING THOSE KIDS THE GIFT OF HEARING.
IT IS REALLY INTERESTING TO SEE THESE KIDS WHO HAVE BEEN THERE AND ACTUALLY THEIR PARENTS.
WHAT TENDS TO HAPPEN IS THEY BECOME GENERATIIONAL REFUGES SO THEIR IS A LOT OF INTERMARRIAGE SOMETIMES AND THAT CAUSES ISSUES WITH HEARING AND OTHER THINGS NOT JUST HEARING BUT WE GO IN THERE IN TH BEGINNING AND YOU SEE THE KIDS ARE SCARED, THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT BUT THEY COME OUT, MANY TIMES BEING ABLE TO HEAR AND WHY THAT IS IMPORTANT TO ME IS THAT WE ARE PROVIDING THEM THE AVENUE TO CHANGE THEIR LIFE AND THEY GET TO CHABGE THEIR LIFE BECAUSE NOT THEY CAN GO TO SCHOOL.
CHILDREN IN OTHER COUNTRIES, WHEN THEY CANT HEAR OR THEY CANT SEE OR WHATEVER THE PREDICAMENT IS FOR THEM THEY TEND TO GET LEFT ON THE SIDELINES AND THEY DONT GET TO ADVANCE AND BECAUSE THERE IS SO MUCH OF THAT WHETHER IT IS BECAUSE THEIR PARENTS MARRIED A COUSIN OR BECAUSE A BOMB WENT OFF OR THEIR HOUSE WAS BROKEN INTO AND THERE WAS DMAGE THEY COME IN AND THROUG FURNITURE AROUND AND SOMETIMES IT HITS THESE KIDS IN THE HEADS AND THEY HAVE LIKE NEUROLOGICAL DMAGES, THE POINT IS THAT THEY CAN CHANGE WHAT HAPPENS TO THEM INSTEAD OF BEING LEFT BEHIND AND SO TO ME THAT IS LIKE A SIGNIFICANT REASON WHY I GO BACK THERE TO TRY TO HELP.
KRISTI: SUCH AN ADMIRABLE HUMANITAIAN MISSION.
AND I KNOW YOU HAVE ALWAYS FOLLOWED YOUR PASSION AND CAN YOU REMEMBER LOOKING BACK YOUR FIRST LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE WHAT THAT WAS LIKE AND SOME OF THE LESSONS YOU TOOK.
FROM THAT?4 RITA: YOU KNOW KRISTI, THATS A REALLY GOOD QUESTION I DON'T KNOW THAT THERE WAS NE SIGNIFICANT EXPERIENCE I THINK THEY SORT OF BUILT ON EACHOTHER AND YOU REALIZE AT SOME POINT IN YOUR LIFE I AM STARTING TO LEAD MYSLEF.
I AM NOT LOOKING TO SOMEBODY ELSE TO TELL ME WHAT TO DO.
I THINK THAT COMES AS I SAID WITH LIFE EXPERIENCE AND LEARNING TO LISTEN TO YOUR INSIDE VOICE SO THAT VOICE WE ALWAYS TRY TO QUELL IS REALLY THE VOICE WE SHOULD BE LISTENING TO BECAUSE FOR SO MANY' REASONS AND TIMES THAT VOICE IS PROBABLY MORE RIGHT THAN ANYTHING ELSE.
UM BUT I CAN THINK OF OPPORTUNITIES I WAS GIVEN THINGS THAT THE MOST SIGNIFICANT ONE WHICH WILL SOUND SILLY IS HAVING A LEMONADE STAND AT THE AGE OF 6 AND MY MOM TEACHING ME ABOUT HEY YOU DIDNT MAKE ALL THAT PROFIT AND HERE IS WHY.
OF COURSE THE WATER WE WILL LET YOU HAVE FOR FREE BUT THOSE CUPS YOU TOOK AND THE LEMONADE YOU TOOK COST MONEY.
AND SO YOU HAD TO PAY FOR THAT AND WHAT YOU HAD IN TURN IS WHAT WE CALL PROFIT AND SO THAT TO ME WAS A SIGNIFICANT MOMENT AND ACTUALY I TURN BACK TO IT WHEN I WAS LISTENING TO MY INNER VOICE SAYING HEY I AM IN PREMED.

MEG: WE ACTUALLY STARTED PLANNING FOR THIS EVENT IN 2015 SO WE WENT DOWN TO THE LPGA HEADQUARTERS WITH THE OTHER CLUBS THAT WERE IN CONTENTION FOR THE SOLHEIM CUP AND LEARNED ABOUT EXPECTATIONS AND WHAT IT WOULD TAKE TO PUT A BIG TOGETHER AND THAT INCLUDED A COLLABORATION ALREADY STARTING BETWEEN MEMBERS OF INVERNESS ALONG WITH REPRESENTATION FROM DESTINATION TOLEDO AND OTHER COMMUNITY LEADERS.
KRISTI: SO WHAT ARE SOME OF THE GOALS YOU HOPE TO ACHIEVE AND THIS EVENT BY THE WAY THIS OCCURS HOW OFTEN?
BECKY: IT ONLY COMES HERE EVERY 4 YEARS SO THE LAST TIME WE PLAYED WAS IN DES MOINES IN 2017 AND IN 2013 WE WERE IN DENVER COLORADO.
SO ONLY HERE EVERY 4 YEARS.
LIKE I SAID EARLIER ITS THE BIGGEST EVENT IN WOMENS GOLF BUT I THINK KRISTI THERE IS SOMETHING SPECIAL HERE WITH TOLEDO.
I HAVE BEEN APART OF MANY SOLHEIM CUPS HERE IN THE US AND OVERSEAS.
TOLEDO OHIO IS REALLY GOING TO SET THE STANDARD NOT ONLY FOR SOLHEIM CUP OF 2021 BUT I THINK AS MEGMENTIONED EARLIER IN THE BID PROCESS I THINK ALL THOSE FORCES IN CITIES THAT BID ON SOLHEIM MVING FORWARD WILL ALL BE THINKING AND ASKING HOW CAN WE BE LIKE TOLEDO.
WE HAVE SO MANY FIRSTS FOR 2021.
WE HAVE NEVER DONE OUR OPENING CEREMONY OFFSITE.
WE WILL DOWNTOWN IN PROMENADE PARK FOR OPENING CEREMONIES ON THAT FRIDAY LEADING INTO LABOR DAY WE ARE GOING TO HAVE OUR SOLHEIM AFTER SUNDOWN KICKOFF ON TUESDAY DOWN IN HENSVILLE AND YOU KNOW WE HAVE ADDED SOME OTHER THINGS SPECIAL TO THE SCHEDULE.
THERE WILL BE A MILITARY DAY THAT IS FOCUSED ON OUR SOLHEIMCUPUSA.COM BUT ALSO WE WANT TO LOOK INTO POTENTIALLY, ILL LET THE CAT OUT OF THE BAG BUT WE WANT TO HONOR OUR HEROS.
OUR FRONTLINE WORKERS DURING THE PANDEMICAND WHAT WE HAVE ALL BEEN GOING THROUGH AS A COUNTRY.

THE CITY, THE MAYORS OFFICE, THE ARTS COMMISION THE METROPARKS, THE SPORTS VENUES LIKE THE MUDHENS, WALLEYE, UNIVERSITY OF TOLEDO EVERYBODY BECAUSE WHAT WE SAID WAS TOLEDO CAN DO THIS IN A WAY NO ONE ELSE CAN AND WE WERE AWARDED THIS BID AT INVERNESS IN TOLEDO REALLY FOR 3 REASONS.
FIRST AND FOREMOST AN ABOVE AND BEYOND GOLF COURSE ITSELF.
WE HAVE A TOP 100 GOLF COURSE IN OUR BACKYARD AND IT STARTS ON THE GOLF COURSE BUT IN ADDITION TO THAT OUR COMMUNITY CAME TOGETHER, WE ENGAGED OUR GLOBAL SPONSOR WITH MARATHON WHO SET THE STAGE TO GET AT LEAST 90 OTHER COMPANIES TO GET BEHIND US IN ADDITION TO WHAT THEY SUPPORT FOR MARATHON CLASSIC TO SUPPORT THE SOLHEIM CUP AS WELL.
AND CERTAINLY THE WAY THE COMMUNITY CAME TOGETHER WE ARE COMMITTED TO AN EXPERIENCE IKE NO OTHER FOR THE SAME FANS.
THE GOLFERS, FOR THE MEDIA.
ANYONE INVOLVED IN THE TOURNAMENT HAS A MEANINGFUL AND LASTING EXPERIENCE THEY CANT GET ANY OTHER WAY AND WE HAVE BEENCOMMITTED TO THAT AND ITS BEEN A BIG PART OF WHAT WE HAVE BEEN WORKING ON.
