Tazewell and Logan County officials discuss the Property Tax Extension Limitation Law, known as tax caps, limiting tax rate hikes to the lower of 5% or the rate of inflation. Current rates don’t provide enough money for capital needs in either county. Tazewell County residents will vote at a March referendum to raise the property tax rate from 49 to 64 cents per $100 equalized assessed valuation.
