Illinois became the 37th state to approve the Equal Rights Amendment last spring. One more state must pass the amendment for the possibility of ratification. Leaders of Eagle Forum, Stop ERA Illinois and Illinois Right to Life oppose ratification because the deadline for approval has passed, some states have rescinded previous approvals and they say the language is vague.
