16 YEARS IS A LONG TIME TO SERVE IN PUBLIC OFFICE.
AND THEN ADD TO THAT SIX MORE YEARS BEFORE BEING THE MAYOR BEING ON THE COUNCIL A TOTAL OF 22 YEARS IN PUBLIC SERVICE FOR JIM ARTIS.
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR LAST TERM.

>> THERE'S A LOT TO REFLECT ON OVER 22 YEARS.
BUT LET ME JUST OPEN UP BY ASKING YOU CAN YOU REFLECT BACK ON WHAT YOU THINK THE MAYBE TWO OR THREE BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENTS WERE DURING YOUR PERIOD AS MAYOR?
>> YES.
THAT'S KIND OF HARD.
A LOT OF THINGS HAPPENED DURING THAT PERIOD OF TIME.
COUPLE OF THINGS THAT MIGHT COME TO THE MIND JUST BECAUSE THEY WERE LARGER EVENTS AND THE COMMUNITY WAS DOWNTOWN WAREHOUSE DISTRICT WHICH REALLY HAD A LOT OF FOCUSED EFFORTS ON TRYING TO LOOK AHEAD AND BENEFICIAL TO THE COMMUNITY.
OUR INVESTMENTS AND THE WAREHOUSE DISTRICT IN DOWNTOWN WERE ONE OF THE BIG ONES.
I THINK THAT ALONG WITH THE WAREHOUSE DISTRICT, THE BUILD A BLOCK ATTRACTION WE HAD THERE BETWEEN THE CATERPILLAR VISITOR CENTER AND THE MUSEUM WERE BIG.
ANOTHER ONE WOULD BE LOUISVILLE SLUGGER.
THAT'S ONE PEOPLE DON'T THINK ABOUT.
PEOPLE SAY WE FOCUSED TOO MUCH ATTENTION ON THE DOWNTOWN AND WAREHOUSE DISTRICT.
THAT WAS A DEVELOPMENT ON THE NORTH SIDE OF TOWN.
THAT WAS ANOTHER BIG ONE.
>> I WANT TO TALK ABOUT DISAPPOINTMENTS IN A MOMENT.
LET'S TALK ABOUT THOSE ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
THE CITY'S PUT MAYBE 30 MILLION OR SO INTO INFRASTRUCTURE IN THE WAREHOUSE DISTRICT.
WHAT KIND OF RETURN IF I MAY USE THAT TERM DO YOU THINK THE CITY IS GETTING OUT OF THAT?
>> CLEARLY, IN THE DISCUSSIONS WE HAD WHEN WE TALKED ABOUT THE NEED TO ENCOURAGE MORE INVESTMENTS IN THE WAREHOUSE DISTRICT WAS THE INFRASTRUCTURE WAS VERY, VERY OLD.
SOME OF THEM ARE GOING TO COME IN AND INVEST IN THOSE PROPERTIES, THEY PROBABLY WEREN'T GOING TO BE ABLE TO MAKE THE FINANCING WORK IF THEY HAD TO GET ALL THE NEW INFRASTRUCTURE IN PLACE BEFORE THEY DID THAT.
SO THE DISCUSSIONS THAT WE HAD WERE TO GET THE INFRASTRUCTURE IN PLACE NOT JUST UTILITIES AND SO ON BUT ALSO WIDER STREETS, NARROWER STREETS WITH MORE PARKING THAT WOULD MAKE IT MORE PEDESTRIAN FRIENDLY, WIDER SIDEWALKS, THE STREETSCAPE AND SO ON.
SO THAT WAS THE THING THAT REALLY ALLOWED US TO ATTRACT PEOPLE TO COME IN.
A LOT OF THEM UTILIZED THE TIFS AND SO ON THAT WE HAD TO ASSIST WITH THE FINANCING.
>> GOING BEYOND JUST THE WAREHOUSE DISTRICT, IF YOU LOOK AT DOWNTOWN, YOU HAVE THE OSF MISSION HEADQUARTERS.
YOU EVER BEEN THE ILLINOIS COLLEGE OF MED AND IT GOES ON AND ON.
WHEN WE TALK ABOUT -- A LOT OF THAT IS MEDICAL.
DO YOU SEE MEDICAL AS A FUTURE?
IT'S DOING WELL NOW IN TERMS OF PROVIDING JOBS AND BOOSTING THE ECONOMY.
IS THAT WHERE A GOOD PORTION OF OUR FOCUS SHOULD BE?
>> THE SHORT ANSWER IS ABSOLUTELY.
LITTLE BIT LONGER ANSWER IS WHEN YOU GO BACK LITERALLY 50 YEARS AGO AND THINK ABOUT THE FACT THAT DICK HARVER AND SOME OF THE OTHER COMMUNITY LEADERS AT THE TIME WORKED SO HARD TO GET THE COLLEGE OF MEDICINE HERE.
TO HAVE THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS COLLEGE OF MEDICINE HERE IN ILLINOIS AND ALL THE GROWTH THAT WE'VE SEEN BOTH AT FORMERLY METHODIST AND UNITY POINT.
ALL THE STUFF OSF IS DOING, IT CLEARLY SET THE STAGE 50 YEARS AGO.
AND EVERY YEAR, THERE'S BEEN A CONTINUAL INCREASE FOCUS ON AREAS FROM THE COMMUNITY.
THAT'S REALLY WHAT'S GOING TO ALLOW TO CONTINUE TO GROW AND REIMAGINE ITSELF.
AS WE'VE DONE SO MANY TIMES OVER DECADES.
HEALTHCARE IS OUR NUMBER ONE EMPLOYER IN THIS AREA RIGHT NOW.
AND IT WILL CONTINUE TO GROW WITH SOME OF THE INVESTMENTS THAT WE HAVE COMING VERY SOON.
>> SO KNOWING THAT YOU WON'T BE THE MAYOR BUT WE TALK A LOT ABOUT THE I-T WORLD.
IS THAT SOMEPLACE YOU CAN FOCUS OR WHERE ELSE -- HOW DO WE GO ABOUT DIVERSIFYING SO WE HAVE IF ONE SEGMENT OF THE ECONOMY FAULTERS, WE'RE NOT IMPACTED LIKE WE WERE IN 1982.
>> I THINK A LOT OF THESE THINGS REALLY DO FIT PRETTY NICELY IN THE PUZZLE.
HAPPENING RIGHT NOW AND BEING DEVELOPED WHICH INCORPORATE A LOT OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE INTO NOT JUST MEDICINE BUT DIVERSIFIED AREAS IN THE WORKPLACE.
FOR INSTANCE, AUTONOMOUS STUFF AND WHAT THEY ARE DOING THERE AND HOW THAT PLAYS INTO A LOT OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THESE DIFFERENT TYPES OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTIES.
YOU LAYER THOSE IN WITH WHAT'S HAPPENING AT THE CANCER CENTER AND THE UNIVERSITY OF COLLEGE OF MEDICINE AND SO ON.
>> YOU MENTIONED AUTONOMOUS STUFF AND NATURAL FIBER WELDING.
AND THEY ARE EXPANDING.
AS MAYOR, WHAT WAS YOUR JOB AND THE NEXT MAYOR'S JOB WILL BE IN TERMS OF WE HAVE A LOT OF PEOPLE MOVING FORWARD WITH IDEAS.
TO KEEP THEM HERE WHEN IT COMES INTO THE PRODUCTION PHASE OF IT.
LUKE AT NATURAL FIBER WELDING IS DOING THAT.
WHAT'S THE ROLE OF THE MAYOR?
>> WHAT'S IMPORTANT FROM THE MAYOR'S POSITION IS WE UNDERSTAND WHAT THE NEEDS OF THESE COMPANIES ARE AS WE CONTINUE TO GROW.
AND A LOT OF IT IS NATURAL FIBER WELDING IS ONE TOO.
IT'S ATTRACTING THE TALENT THAT CAN COME IN TO OUR COMMUNITY AS OPPOSED TO GOING INTO OTHER START UP IN SILICON VALLEY.
IT'S TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THE NEEDS ARE GOING TO BE.
WE HAVE TO GIVE THE NEW POTENTIAL COMPANIES THAT ARE GOING TO EMPLOY.
NATURAL FIBER WELDING THAT COULD POTENTIALLY EMPLOY HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE AT SOME POINT IN TIME.
WITHOUT SOME HELP FROM THE STATE AND NOT BEING SO CUMBERSOME IN RULES AND REGULATIONS AND TAXES AND SO ON, THAT'S GOING TO BE THE DOWNFALL.
SO UNDERSTANDING WHAT THEY NEED AND THEN MAKING IT AS EASY AS WE CAN AND ATTRACT TALENT WE NEED TO HAVE THE BUSINESS AND HOW TO KEEP GOVERNMENT OFF THEIR BACK TO JUST ALLOW THEM TO GROW AND SUCCEED.

SO LET'S TURN THE CONVERSATION TO DISAPPOINTMENTS.
AND I'M GOING TO FEED ONE TO YOU IF YOU ALLOW ME.
THAT IS PENSIO PROBLEM.
NOT THE STATE PENSIONS, THE FIRE DEPARTMENT.
HOW FRUSTRATED HAS THAT BEEN FOR YOU?
IT'S GROWING EXPONENTIALLY THE COST TO THE CITY.
>> IT IS.
AND TO EVERY OTHER CITY AND THE STATE OF ILLINOIS.
IF THERE'S ONE THING OVER THE 16 YEARS THAT WE'VE TALKED ABOUT ON YOUR PROGRAM.
DEFINITELY IS.
NOT EVEN THE GORILLA IN THE ROOM.
IT'S EVERYBODY KNOWS IT HAS TO BE ADDRESSED.
IT'S BIGGER THAN THE GORILLA IN THE ROOM.
BEEN FRUSTRATING.
TO THE POINT WHERE SADLY TO SAY.
THE COST SIGNIFICANT PERSONAL STRAIN FOR ME.
BECAUSE OF THE NEED FOR THE CITY TO ADDRESS THESE ISSUES.
AND IT'S ALMOST FALLING OUT OF MY CHAIR CAN'T BELIEVE IT WHEN JUST AS AN EXAMPLE ON BEING TONE DEAF.
HAS APPROVED ANOTHER TENSION SWEETENER FOR PUBLIC SAFETY THAT'S GOING TO COST THE CITY OF CHICAGO 40 TO 50 MILLION DOLLARS MORE A YEAR.
AT THE SAME TIME WE'RE JUST TRYING TO PLEAD WITH THEM TO UNDERSTAND HOW BIG THIS ISSUE IS.
NOT ONLY ARE THEY NOT LISTENING, THEY ARE PUTTING MORE SWEETENERS OUT THERE.
AND IT'S MADDENING BECAUSE IN MY OPINION AND THE OPINION OF ACTUARIES THAT LOOK AT THESE NUMBERS, IT'S JUST ACCELERATES THE TIME UNTIL THE WHOLE THING IMPLODES.
AND IT'S REALLY SAD.
>> SO LET ME OPEN IT UP TO OTHER DISAPPOINTMENTS DURING YOUR TIME AS MAYOR.
ANYTHING ELSE POP OUT OTHER THAN PENSIONS?
>> OH, YOU KNOW, JUST AS A FOOTNOTE, WE DID HAVE A SLIGHT VICTORY WHEN WE GOT THE CONSOLIDATIONS.
>> FROM 653 DOWN TO 2.
>> RIGHT.
THAT WAS SOMETHING THAT HADN'T BEEN ACCOMPLISHED IN PREVIOUS 30 YEARS.
SMALL STEP FORWARD.
DISAPPOINTMENTS PROBABLY ALONG THE SAME LINES AS TALKING ABOUT GOVERNMENT RELATED IS THE DISCUSSIONS WE HAD IN PROBABLY EARLY IN THE FIRST TERM.
I HAD TALKED ABOUT UNIGOV AND WHAT WE COULD POTENTIALLY DO TO CONSOLIDATE SOME OF THE SERVICES WE'RE PROVIDING IN THE COUNTY LEVEL AS WELL AS THE CITY.
IT SEEMED LIKE THERE WAS A LITTLE BIT OF INTEREST AT THE TIME.
AND I THINK THE LEADERSHIP AND THE ESPECIALLY BETWEEN THE COUNTY AND THE CITY ON THE LAW ENFORCEMENT SIDE WERE SERIOUS ABOUT LOOKING AT IT.
IT JUST NEVER GAINED A WHOLE LOT OF STEAM.
SO THAT DISCUSSION COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH MORE BENEFICIAL TO US.
WE WENT OUT TO WASHINGTON D.C.
WHEN SECRETARY WAS THE SECRETARY OF TRANSPORTATION.
WE WENT OUT THERE SEVERAL TIMES.
WE MET WITH THE HEAD OF AMTRAK AND THE HEAD OF HIS DEPARTMENT HEADS THAT WORKED ON RAIL.
AND WE JUST COULD NOT GET THAT PASSENGER RAIL THING DONE.
WE FOUND OUT THERE'S NO WAY WE CAN AFFORD TO GET DIRECT RAIL ON A DIRECT LINE.
THEN WE JUST TOOK A STEP BACK AFTER THEY ANNOUNCED HIGH SPEED FROM CHICAGO TO ST. LOUIS.
MAYBE IT WOULD MAKE MORE SENSE TO GET PASSENGER RAIL AND TIE INTO HIGH SPEED.
AND EVEN THAT HIT SO MANY DIFFERENT LAND MINES AND THE FUNDING CHALLENGES AFTER RECESSIONS AND A LOT OF OTHER THINGS MADE THAT ONE.
SO THOSE WERE BOTH POTENTIAL LIEBIGER THINGS WE TRIED TO TACKLE THAT JT DIDN'T HAPPEN.
>> LET ME THROW OUT TOPICS.
SOME OF THEM ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
SOME MAYBE A MIXED BAG.
FIRST, THE PROMISE PROGRAM OF THE YOU STARTED THAT 12 YEARS AGO.
HOW HAS THAT WORKED OUT?
HAS IT EXCEEDED YOUR EXPECTATIONS?
>> I WOULD SAY YES.
MOST PEOPLE WE TALK TO AT THE TIME SAID YOU WON'T LAST TWO YEARS WITHOUT HAVING ENDOWMENT ESTABLISHED.
>> THAT WAS BASED ON THE KALAMAZOO.
>> THAT'S RIGHT.
IT HAS $25-30 MILLION ENDOWMENT.
AND WE HAD 25 OR 30 CENTS.
QUITE A BIT OF A DIFFERENT CHALLENGE.
KEEP IN MIND, THERE'S NEVER BEEN ONE PENNY OF TAXPAYER MONEY.
SO IT'S NOT A -- THIS ISN'T A SITUATION WHERE WE TAX PEOPLE TO PROVIDE WHATEVER IT IS.
AND THANKS TO A LOT OF GENEROUS CORPORATE DONORS AND PRIVATE CITIZENS IN THE COMMUNITY THAT REALLY UNDERSTOOD THE VALUE OF HAVING THAT EDUCATION AND OPPORTUNITY THERE FOR OUR KIDS.
THEY ARE OUR MOST IMPORTANT RESOURCE.
IT'S BEEN PRETTY SUCCESSFUL.
>> FOR THOSE THAT AREN'T FAMILIAR, SCHOLARSHIPS TO COLLEGE.
>> THROUGH ICC AND THEN AFTER THAT, POTENTIALLY EUREKA COLLEGE FOR THE SECOND TWO YEARS.
>> PEERMARKET HOTEL.
GARY MATTHEWS CAME IN AND SAID I WANT TO RESTORE IT TO 1927 GLORY AND GLAMOUR.
AND THE CITY PUT A LOT OF MONEY FORWARD BOTH IN TERMS OF LOANS AND THEN A BONDS TO BE REPAID OVER MONEY EARNED AT THE HOTEL.
PLUS AND MINUS?
>> YEAH.
IT'S BOTH.
I THINK A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T REALLY UNDERSTAND JUST BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE TALK ABOUT IT NEVER REALLY UNDERSTOOD THE WHOLE CONCEPT OF THAT.
WE DIDN'T OWN THE PIER MARKET.
WE WERE NEVER IN A POSITION TO SEE WHO OWNED AND RENOVATED IT.
GARY MATTHEWS BOUGHT IT.
SO YOU CAN'T -- WE AS THE CITY NOT HAVING OWNERSHIP COULDN'T TAKE BIDS ON WHAT WAS GOING TO BUY IT.
SO MATTHEWS AND HIS INVESTORS WORKED OUT A DEAL WITH THE OWNERS.
THE CITY PARTICIPATED IN TERMS OF FINANCING TO HELP DO SOME OF THOSE THINGS.
THE OWNER WAS ALREADY THERE.
THE OPTIONS OF WHAT WAS POTENTIALLY GOING TO HAPPEN WAS WORSE CASE SCENARIO WHICH IT WENT DARK.
WHICH IT HAD DONE IN THE PAST.
THE HUGE INVESTMENT, THE CLOSEST HOTEL RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET IS DARK.
AND COMMUNITY CONVENTIONS AND SO ON.
THERE WAS TALK ABOUT IT BEING CONVERTED TO A -- I DON'T NEED TO MENTION ANY BRAND NAMES.
BUT VERY LOW-END HOTELS.
WHICH WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ATTRACTIVE TO THE CIVIC CENTER OR CONVENTIONS EITHER.
THERE WAS TALK OF POTENTIALLY HAVING SOME TYPE OF COMMUNITY HOUSING DEVELOPMENT THERE.
WHICH I DON'T KNOW THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN A REALLY GOOD FIT FOR THAT.
WHEN YOU LOOK AT ALL OF THOSE SCENARIOS WITH ANOTHER COUPLE HUNDRED ROOMS RIGHT NEXT DOOR AT THE MARRIOTT, IT REALLY DID IT PROVIDE THAT LANDING SPACE TO BE CONSIDERED A CONVENTION HOTEL AND HELP THE CIVIC CENTER BE ABLE TO MARKET THEIR PROPERTIES A LOT BETTER.
>> BUT THE CITY DID LOSE $7 MILLION GIVE OR TAKE ON THE LOAN.
>> THE WAY IT ALL WENT DOWN, IT DID.
AND THERE REALLY ISN'T A LOT OF DISCUSSION TO BE HAD ABOUT THE LITIGATIONS GOING ON WITH THAT.
I THINK THAT THE OUTCOME POTENTIALLY COULD HAVE BEEN A LOT DIFFERENT UNDER POTENTIAL DIFFERENT OWNERSHIP MANAGEMENT.
IT IS WHAT IT IS.
>> LET ME COMBINE TWO TOPICS.
SHOT SPOTTER AND DON'T SHOOT PROGRAM.
HAS THAT BEEN BENEFICIAL IN TERMS OF REDUCING THE AMOUNT OF CRIME?
BECAUSE I THIN WE FOCUS ON MURDERS QUITE A BIT.
WE HAD 25 MURDERS I BELIEVE LAST YEAR.
BUT OVERALL, WHAT'S YOUR TAKE ON SPOT SPOTTER AND DON'T SHOOT?
>> I THINK THAT ONE OF THE IMPORTANT THINGS TO UNDERSTAND IS THE PERCEPTION OF CRIME AND DANGER VERSUS REALITY.
WE HAVE HAD GOOD SUCCESS IN BOTH OF THOSE PROGRAMS.
SO THE SHOT SPOTTER WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL.
WE LOOKED AT THAT FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS.
UNTIL THE ABILITY OF THE SYSTEM TO DO A BETTER JOB AT A BETTER COST, WE DIDN'T INVEST IN IT.
WE HAVE FOUND THAT UNBELIEVABLY SUCCESSFUL.
AND REALLY, THE BIG THING THAT MAKES THE SHOTS IS THE ABILITY TO TRIANGULATE WHERE THAT WAS.
ARE THERE BEFORE PEOPLE EVEN TAKE OFF.
WE GET THERE QUICKER AND.
DON'T LOOK AT SHOT SPOTTERS AS MUCH AS A TOOL.
WHEN YOU REALLY UNDERSTAND SHOT SPOTTER TECHNOLOGY, IT'S BEEN SUCCESSFUL.
IT REALLY WAS TAKEN OFF THE FOCUSED DETERANCE C.LT AND HELP THEM UNDERSTAND THAT'S NOT A GOOD THING TO BE DOING.
AND FOCUS ON THE GANGS THAT WERE CAUSING A LOT OF PROBLEMS.
AND THEY DID UNBELIEVABLE JOB OF SHUTTING THOSE GROUPS DOWN.
AND HOLDING DOWN THE NUMBER OF SHOOTINGS.
THE POLICE DEPARTMENT HAS DONE A GOOD JOB OF MAKING THOSE NOT AS ORGANIZED.
THE BIGGEST PROBLEM I SEE PROBABLY WAS NAMING THE PROBLEM DON'T SHOOT.
>> BECAUSE EXPECTATION OF THEM.
>> IS IT WILL STOP.
IT WOULD BE NICE TO GET TO THAT.
THAT'S PROBABLY NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.
FROM A FOCUSED DETERRENCE, IT'S BEEN WORKING.

OVER THE 16 YEARS, WHAT KIND OF RELATIONSHIP HAVE YOU BEEN ABLE TO DEVELOP AS THE LEADER OF THE CORE CITY WHICH OFFERS MANY OF THE SERVICES THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES TAKE ADVANTAGE OF WITH THE MAYOR'S AND THE COMMUNITY COMMUNITIES?
WHAT'S THE IMPORTANCE OF THAT RELATIONSHIP AND HOW HAVE YOU BUILT THAT?
>> SO OVER THE 16 YEARS, WE HAVE ESTABLISHED, I THINK, PRETTY GOOD COMMUNICATION WITH ALL THE MAYORS AND HERE IN CENTRAL ILLINOIS.
SPECIFICALLY THOSE THAT YOU MENTIONED AND ALSO WEST PIORIA HEIGHTS.
WE -- PEORIA HEIGHTS.
THEY ARE ALL SIMILAR IN TERMS OF THE REVENUES VERSUS THE EXPERIENCES WE HAVE.
AT THE END OF THE DAY, NO MORE ARE THERE ANY COMMUNITIES THAT ARE FAT AND SASSY WITH THIS GREAT BIG LINE ITEM AT THE END OF THEIR BUDGETS FOR PROJECTS THEY WANT TO DO.
THEY ARE REALLY TIGHT BUDGET.
WE'VE HAD REALLY GOOD DISCUSSIONS WITH THE LAYERS.
WE APPRECIATE THE LARGEST CITY HEARING.
WE'VE BEEN THROUGH SOME OF THEM AND VICE VERSA.
>> TALKING ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIP WITH LEADERS AND OTHER COMMUNITIES, LET'S TURN THAT CONVERSATION INTERNALLY TO THE CITY.
ARE THERE INDIVIDUALS YOU'VE LEANED ON?
YOU HAVE TO HAVE RELATIONSHIPS WITHIN THE COMMUNITY.
>> OVER TIME, BOTH PRIVATE INDIVIDUALS HAVE BOTH HELPED A LOT.
I MEAN, LEADERSHIP OVER THE YEARS YEARS, THEY HAVE A HUGE VESTED INTEREST HAVE ALWAYS AVAILED THEMSELVES TO CONVERSATIONS.
AND NOT ALWAYS WAITING FOR THE MAYOR OR CITY MANAGER OR COUNCILMEMBER TO CALL THEM.
WE HAVE SOME ISSUES AND WE NEED TO LOOK AT THIS.
AND IT'S NOT JUST THE BIG GUYS.
IT'S A LOT OF THE SMALL MOM AND POPS DOING BUSINESS FOR DECADES.
IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT.
I HATE TO START MENTIONING PEOPLE BY NAME.
THERE'S ALSO COUNCILMEMBERS.
22 YEARS ON THE COUNCIL, I HAVEN'T DONE IT.
I'VE SERVED WITH A WHOLE LOT OF PEOPLE ON THE CITY COUNCIL.
>> AFTER 22 YEARS, YOU ARE GOING TO STEP ASIDE FROM THE COUNCIL.
YOU DO HAVE A JOB.
WHAT'S NEXT FOR EXMAYOR?
>> I WENT OVER TO THE OSF HEALTHCARE FOUNDATION A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO.
IT WAS A CONVERSATION I HAD BEEN HAVING WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE FOUNDATION FOR PROBABLY A YEAR BEFORE THAT.
JUST KIND OF EVOLVED INTO GOING OVER THERE TO HELP THE FOUNDATION WITH SO MANY OF THE GOOD THINGS THAT OSF IS DOING HERE.
THAT WAS NEVER THE INTENTION I WASN'T GOING TO RUN.
IT WAS JUST WHAT IT WAS.
SO FOR ME, THERE'S A COUPLE THINGS.
>> BRIEFLY LIST THOSE.
>> I WILL.
THERE'S ONLY TWO.
NUMBER ONE IS IT'S GOING TO ALLOW ME AN OPPORTUNITY ON WORK WITH REALLY GOOD GROUP OF PEOPLE AT THE FOUNDATION FOR THE SISTERS TO DO WONDERFUL THINGS FOR THE COMMUNITY.
VERY ENGAGED IN THE COMMUNITY BEING ABLE TO HELP IT MOVE FORWARD.
THE SECOND PART OF THAT WAS I BELIEVE ABLE TO LAND AT AN ORGANIZATION LIKE OSF.
THAT'S FORTUNATE FOR ME.
>> AND TIME FOR FAMILY.
>> A LOT OF TIME FOR FAMILY WHICH AFTER 22 YEARS I'M READY FOR THAT TOO.
>> THANK YOU FOR YOUR 22 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CITY.
