Do you know what this says?
Take a look.
It says safety.
That's because I always think about safety before I do something.
You should think about safety, too.
You know you can do that by learning the difference between things that are safe and things that are unsafe.
And pointing out unsafe things to a grownup.
They appreciate that.
Let's see how much you know about safety.
Let's play a game.
I like to call this game... because it's always a good idea to stop and think before you do something that is not safe.
I'm going to show you four things, and you decide which of these four things is not safe for you to touch or play with.
Are you ready?
Here we go.
A doll... A crayon... A lighter... And an apple.
Now stop and think.
Which of these should only be used by an adult?
Did you say the lighter?
You're right.
Only adults should use lighters.
You can get burned if you play with lighters, and you know, you could even burn the whole house down.
Lighters are not safe for children to play with.
If you see a lighter lying around don't touch it.
And then tell a grownup as soon as you can so they can put it away safely.
Next we have a ball... A bottle of window cleaner... A cardboard box... And a book.
Stop and think and see if you can tell which of these is not safe for children to touch.
Did you say the window cleaner?
You're right.
Cleaning products can be dangerous.
If you accidentally got some of this in your eyes, it would hurt and if you got some in your mouth, well, it could make you very sick.
Some cleaning products will even burn your skin if you get it on you.
If you think about safety first you'll know better than to ever play with these.
So remember... Then talk to a grownup about it.
Let's do this one more time.
Here's a paper plate... An Orange... A teddy bear... And a bottle of medicine.
Now stop and think.
Which of these things is not safe to play with?
Did I hear you say a bottle of medicine?
You're right.
Medicine can be very dangerous even if it's your own medicine.
Always wait for an adult to give it to you.
They will make sure you get the right amount and at the right time.
If you see that someone has left medicine lying around, Then tell a grownup.
That's the best way to stay safe.
