(gentle upbeat music) - The Salt Lake City Arts Council's beloved Living Traditions Festival is returning once again to downtown Salt Lake City.
Dawn Borchardt is here to talk about what festival goers can expect.
Hi, Dawn, thanks for being here.
- Hi, Mary.
- So, tell us about this year's Living Traditions.
Like, what can we all expect?
- Yeah, this year, you can expect a lot of the same things that we've had in years past.
So performances, craft artists, we have an amazing food market, so you can try different food.
We have workshops, so you can get hands-on craft experience.
We'll also have some beer tasting from Bohemian Brewery as well as some food demos in the food market.
- That's great, and you know what I love about this festival is you just see all the rich cultures that make up our city in a way you usually don't.
So tell us a little about how many cultures are represented this year.
- Yeah, we have at least 70 cultures.
It might actually even be a little bit more, but we have quite a bit.
We have from almost all different continents, many different countries from around the world of people who have come and made Utah home.
- Which is amazing.
And we always love, as you say, trying out all the food.
I think that's my favorite part of the festival.
- Yeah.
- Yeah, and- - It's delicious.
- Yeah, and who are your headliners this year?
I mean, who's performing?
- Yeah, on Friday at 8, we have Geno Delafose & the French Rockin' Boogie.
So he's a Creole artist that will be coming up to perform at Living Traditions.
So we're really excited to have a headliner again.
- That's great.
And then what are some of the other groups performing?
- We have a lot of the same groups we've had in the past.
You know, crowd favorites.
We have Malialole.
We have a lot of Folklorico groups, and we have some African groups, some Indian groups.
We have groups really from all over, but a lot of 'em that have been crowd favorites from over the years.
- That's great, that's great.
Well, I love your festival, and thanks for doing it.
And thanks for being here.
- Thank you so much.
- And if you'd like to know more about the next Living Traditions Festival, it's May 17th to 19th at the Washington and Library Squares in downtown Salt Lake City.
