(cheerful acoustic music) - Salt Lake County Animal Services is dedicated to providing consistent, reliable, and professional solutions for animal related issues.
Grant & Development Director Nicole Simmons has joined us today with a special guest, and she'll introduce him.
Hey Nicole.
Thanks for being here.
- Hi.
Yeah.
- So you brought Baldwin.
Look at this pretty boy.
- I did.
He's super sweet.
Baldwin is currently available for adoption.
He's approximately six years old.
He's been at our shelter for a little over a month now.
Did well in the car on his way here.
Does good with other dogs and is all around a pretty great dog.
The Shar Peis usually tend to be a little bit more independent, so he comes to you for affection, so, but he's been really great.
- But he will come to you, that's great.
- Yeah, yeah.
- So you, I know this is just one of the things you do when you've got a big gala coming up.
that's gonna help - We do.
- fund all of this.
- Yes.
- So I love the name, the SPAYghetti & No Balls Gala.
- Yes, yeah.
- Okay, so tell us about that.
- So the SPAYghetti & No Balls Gala is going to be held on August 25th at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center in downtown Salt Lake City, and it's to help raise funds for spay and neuter for people who cannot otherwise afford to do it themselves.
So it's for low income families, and all of the funds and proceeds, ticket sales, sponsorships, everything that goes towards SPAYghetti & No Balls goes towards our spay and neuter programming.
- All right, that's great.
And talk about some of the other programs.
I mean, there's obviously the foster adopt program.
- Yes.
- And you've got a lot of dogs available, I'm guessing?
- We do, our shelter's at capacity in terms of dogs.
So we're having to double up kennels.
So fostering, fostering to adopt is a really great solution to help free up kennel space so we can move new dogs in.
The foster to adopt is really nice for people who are maybe considering to get a dog but don't know exactly what they want or if it's the dog that they want, it allows them about two to three weeks to, you know, try out that dog in a foster situation and, sorry, hold on one second.
(Mary laughs) He's distracted by the statue.
- He'll be okay.
- But to try out the dogs in a foster home and see if it works for them.
We provide all the supplies, so crates, food, everything that they need.
And then you can decide whether or not that dog works for you.
- All right, well thank you so much for being here and good luck with the big gala, thanks.
- Yeah, thank you.
- And if you'd like to know more about the upcoming gala, the SPAYghetti & No Balls Gala, Salt Lake County Animal Services, August 25th, 6:00 PM, Downtown Hilton, slc.org/animal-services.
I'm Mary Dickson.
