(lighthearted music) - October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Salt Lake Domestic Violence Coalition is holding a candlelight vigil for those impacted.

Victim advocate, Tina Orme, is here with details.

Hi Tina.

Thank you so much-- - Hi.

- Thank you so much for being here.

Would you tell us just a little bit about what your coalition does?

- Sure.

Salt Lake Domestic Violence Coalition is a nonprofit organization.

Our mission statement is to basically eliminate domestic violence through education and social awareness.

Obviously we can't do that alone, so we're asking public to come in and help.

- So, what are you looking for from the public right now?

- We are having the candlelight vigil.

We're inviting everybody out.

We have community meetings monthly.

We have resources on our website.

We just like everybody to be educated about domestic violence and the warning signs.

- So you do have this candlelight vigil on October 1st and it's at Murray Park.

Can you tell us what that's gonna look like?

- So, we're going to have resource tables, a special speaker, candlelight, some silence for those impacted with domestic violence, and... we have some bracelets to give away and that has a impactful statement on it, and it is a free event so we'd like everybody to come out.

- Oh, that sounds really nice.

And you have other things going on, I know you have a 5K coming up later.

- Yes, we do.

They can check the website for that.

It's going to be virtual.
