(upbeat music) - Salt Lake Film Society is presenting its 13th year of Film Mexico this November.
And here to tell us more about it is Marcy Collette and Eduardo Baca Cuenca.
Hello both.
Welcome so much.
It's fun to have you here.
So I'm gonna start with you, Marcy.
Just tell us about the festival and how you started it.
It's been going 13 years.
- 13 years, our cultural tours are one of our programs we're most proud of, and we present film Mexico with presenting partners, the Mexican consulate and Artist De Mexico, and with these presenting partners and a committee that chooses these films from Mexico, independent films, the 13th year we're really, really proud to bring this to Salt Lake City, films that can't be seen elsewhere.
- Anywhere else.
This is great and know a lot of the films are by prominent filmmakers.
So Eduardo, you've seen some of them.
So I kind of want you to tell us about the films that people can expect and maybe the one you recently saw.
- Sure.
Thank you.
Well, we're gonna have three feature films and then we're gonna have three documentaries and three shorts.
So it's an opportunity to see different types of films and genres.
And the one that we're starting with on the 14th, it's called "Valentina or the Serenity."
That's the title of it, and it's quite an interesting story by a woman director.
So we're also featuring quite a few woman directors in the last few years.
And then one that I watch, which will be the closing film, it's called "Echo," and it's about life in a town in the state of Puebla, in the central part of Mexico, which is really interesting.
I found that very refreshing because it's not a drama or a story about anything in particular.
It's really about life and growing up in that town and just serve the experiences of growing up there.
- Ah, wonderful, well, I look forward to seeing the films and I thank you both for being here.
Thank you.
- Thanks ma'am.
- Thank you.
- And if you'd like to know more about that upcoming film, Mexico Series of the Salt Lake Film Society, November 14th to 20th at seven o'clock at the Broadway Center cinemas.
