Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship(upbeat music) - [Noah] A lot of people say, "Skateboarding is art," you know?
But I think that if anything, skateboarding kind of gives you the confidence to make.
And whatever you're making, you know, so be it, no matter whether it's drawing, or painting, or music.
(upbeat music) - I learned how to dance before I learned how to skate.
Sometimes, you have to use your body to be able to do something.
You have to use your hips and your arms to, like, turn the skateboard with you.
(pensive music) - Skateboarding's what I do every chance I get, and it's a really, I think, a really beneficial thing for a kid to learn.
And it helps out in childhood many ways and adulthood many ways.
And it's just something I felt happy and honored to share with kids of this city.
Neil Blender, Mark Gonzales, Natas Kaupas, those were all old-school dudes that were like the original weirdos and the original dudes that like drew all over their grip tape, crazy designs, crazy poems, words.
(upbeat music) Art and skateboarding are intertwined, it's like you can't have one without the other.
Skateboarding would be really boring if it wasn't for all the skateboarders that are artists, you know, or artists that got involved with skateboard graphics and stuff like that.
(upbeat music) - It feels, like, cool because like the wind is just going... Like just hitting you and going through your body.
(upbeat music) - I really like... How do I say it?
Airtime, just floating in midair or something, you know?
Yeah.
