Under the law, terminally ill adults with six months or less to live have the option.

Under the law, terminally ill adults with six months or less to live have the option to request and receive a doctor’s prescription for medication. Patients can then decide to take the medication, which will allow them to die peacefully in their sleep if suffering becomes unbearable.
