Senate Bill 94 also calls for establishing a committee that would review how prescriptions are used in Kentucky.
The bill, sponsored by Senator Julie Rocky Adams, passed the full Senate last month.
Speaking on the House floor today, Representative Russell Weber said this bill will address several problems that advanced practice nurses and their patients have encountered.
These include difficulty in getting credentialed by insurers and Amcos being unable to provide medication assisted treatment for opioid addicted Kentuckians, and the fear of opening a practice because of the potential loss of the capacities.
And with it the DEA number.
After voting on the bill, Representative Danny Benton explained why he was in favor of it.
In rural Kentucky, the nurse practitioner plays a viable role in providing health care to the people that every day here the county lists in 30,000.
They're essential.
And the work they've done on this, I want to commend the sponsor on it.
It's needed for the state of Kentucky.
The bill passed 92 to 1 and now goes to Governor Bashir, who could sign it into law, veto it, or allow the bill to be
