Well, sir, I'm a veteran.
You don't look like a veteran.
What does a veteran look like?
♪ There will be life ♪ You join the military, you raise your right hand and you lay your lives on the altar.
But I don't think anybody really knows what that absolute toll is.
The minute you get off the bus, they're starting to strip you of what makes you you.
...that if something were to happen to me that she would help me.
I couldn't be out in my life, that I would be out in my death.
I 100 percent tie to the way the veterans are treated, to the suicide death rate.
You know, we're by ourselves because nobody wants to hear that the chaplain has problems.
♪ There's a lot of things happened to the Vietnam veterans that should never ever happened.
♪ Some questions in my head at the time, too, is like, you know, why didn't he just stay?
How come I had to be the kid who grew up without a dad?
♪ [gun shots] ♪ There will be life ♪ 21 years, five months, 31 days.
It's such an adventure and what a great job.
♪ Marching on ♪ Right arm grabbing the reins, left arm grabbing the reins, riding, and then expressing.
♪ We're all on this road ♪ ♪ trying to get home.
